La Paz, 22 de agosto (RC). – El candidato presidencial de Comunidad Ciudadana (CC), Carlos Mesa, manifestó en un contacto telefónico con Radio Compañera que dentro de su plan gubernamental se planea investigar el porcentaje real de consumo de coca para definir las hectáreas que son necesarias para su producción, con el fin de que se pueda reducir el narcotráfico en el país.
“Es imperativo que tengamos un informe independiente, internacional con cooperación del Estado boliviano para saber cuánta coca se necesita para el consumo legal de hoja. Esto es fundamental porque nos va a definir las dimensiones de hectáreas que se va a autorizar para su producción”, manifestó Mesa.
Del mismo modo, el candidato de CC explicó que el segundo paso para el control de narcóticos es la apertura de un debate abierto para analizar sobre si es necesariodespenalización de la droga, ya que destacó que el país ha fracasado durante sus 50 años de lucha contra el narcotráfico.
Así mismo, Mesa señaló que es necesario el establecimiento de una estructura de política en conjunto a otros países productores de cocaína, porque consideró que el país no puede responder al problema del narcotráfico por sí mismo, ya que es una problemática que está vinculada a múltiples países de Latinoamérica.
