La Paz, 13 de noviembre (RCM).- El futbolista boliviano Marcelo Martins anunció su retiro de la selección boliviana de fútbol luego de 16 años, tras considerar que “cumplió su ciclo” en la selección nacional, según palabras del propio deportista en una conferencia de prensa.
“Creo que llegó un momento difícil en lo personal. Lo conversé con mi familia, amigos y gente allegada. Completé mi ciclo con la selección boliviana de fútbol. Estos dos próximos partidos por Eliminatorias serán los últimos que represente a la selección (…) Me siento orgulloso de haber vestido esta camiseta de la mejor manera. Dejé todo en la cancha y eso me deja tranquilo, mi familia se siente orgullosa”, explicó Martins.
De la misma forma, el futbolista explicó que no fue difícil hablar de su decisión, pero resaltó que “todo comienzo tiene su fin”. Martins aclaró que ya había comunicado sobre su retiro al actual director técnico de la selección, Antonio Carlos Zago.
