La Paz, 11 de diciembre (RCM).- Venezuela abrió una oficina del servicio de identificación y extranjería (Saime) cerca del Esequibo, territorio en disputa con la vecina Guyana, con la intención de ofrecer documentos de identidad a los habitantes de esta zona, informaron las autoridades locales el domingo.
La oficina abrió el sábado en el pueblo minero de Tumeremo (estado Bolívar, fronterizo con el Esequibo), que el presidente venezolano, Nicolás Maduro, decretó como una zona político-administrativa «provisional» para tratar los temas relacionados con el territorio que reclama.
Después de la celebración del controvertido referendo en Venezuela con el que el 95% de los votantes apoyó la inclusión del Esequibo como parte del territorio venezolano, Maduro anunció la creación de una autoridad única para la Guayana Esequiba, como bautizó a este territorio administrado por Guyana.
