La dirección de la Confederación Sindical Única de Trabajadores Campesinos de Bolivia (CSUTCB) anunció que se determinó el nuevo congreso del Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) se lleve a cabo en la ciudad de El Alto, aunque aún no se ha fijado la fecha. Esperan que el Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE) acepte la decisión, a pesar de las preocupaciones sobre la división liderada por Evo Morales, quien aún no convocado a un nuevo congreso.
Recientemente, el TSE reafirmó su rechazo al congreso del MAS realizado en Lauca Ñ, Cochabamba, y a la decisión de reelegir a Evo Morales como único candidato presidencial para 2025. El TSE estableció que la dirección del MAS debe convocar a un nuevo congreso en un plazo de 180 días, según el estatuto, algo que Morales rechaza.
El secretario de Comunicación de CSUTCB, Efraín Mollo, destacó el «carácter divisionista y antidemocrático» de Evo y, en respeto a la agenda del Gran Cabildo del Pueblo del 17 de octubre, la organización decidió que, en El Alto, sea la sede del nuevo congreso ordinario del MAS-IPSP. El objetivo del evento es renovar la dirección del partido, que no ha cambiado desde 2017, eligiendo El Alto por su importancia histórica en la democracia y política del país.
Mollo informó que se invitó a Evo Morales a una reunión de emergencia antes del cabildo, pero este no asistió y, según Mollo, Morales ha decidido apartarse del camino democrático de las organizaciones, imponer su posición y buscar perpetuarse en el cargo, lo cual va en contra de las organizaciones matrices.
