La Paz, 1 de diciembre (RCM).- El Ministerio de Salud destacó que en el país el tratamiento antirretroviral para pacientes con el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (VIH) está garantizado, tras afirmar que al menos tres de cada cinco personas que viven con el virus reciben retrovirales de forma gratuita.
“El Programa Nacional de Enfermedad Infectocontagiosas del Ministerio de Salud y Deportes trabaja en acciones estratégicas y políticas que son impulsadas desde hace varios años, en el país tres de cada cinco personas que viven con VIH reciben, de forma gratuita, el tratamiento con antirretrovirales”, explicó la viceministra de Gestión del Sistema de Salud, Mariana Ramírez.
Por otro lado, la institución médica observó que las barreras geográficas, culturales y principalmente el estigma y la discriminación son determinantes ya que dificultan el acceso al diagnóstico y tratamiento, es por ello que se trabaja en sensibilización, capacitaciones y procesos relacionados con la mejora continua de la atención en salud. Otro dato relevante que dio a conocer la autoridad es que más del 80% de los pacientes reciben al menos un comprimido, reduciendo significativamente la probabilidad de los efectos adversos.
