A tres días de la realización de la audiencia de apelación de la FIFA sobre el caso del jugador de la selección ecuatoriana, Byron Castillo, acusado de haber falsificado su nacionalidad, el diario inglés Daily Mail ha revelado un audio en el que el futbolista admite ser colombiano.
«Yo llegué y no sabía nada de eso de arreglar. Entonces, me dijeron: ‘Ya, listo, te vamos a arreglar. Vamos a hacer esto y lo otro, por aquí te vamos a ayudar’, (…) yo necesitaba ayuda porque yo venía (a Ecuador) a querer ayudar a mi familia, todo eso. Tú sabes cómo es la situación allá en Tumaco (Colombia)”, relata el jugador en el audio.
El polémico caso ya tuvo un fallo a favor de Ecuador, el cual fue apelado por la Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Chile (ANFP). Pese a ello, la dilatación del caso y la proximidad de la Copa del Mundo complican las posibilidades chilenas de ocupar el puesto de la selección de Ecuador de cara a la venidera cita mundialista en Qatar.
