La Paz, 1 de septiembre (RCM).- El equipo internacional de investigadores dirigido por Charles Cadieux, Ph.D., estudiante de la Universidad de Montreal, Canadá, y miembro del Instituto para la Investigación de Exoplanetas (iREx), anunciaron el descubrimiento de TOI-1452 b, un exoplaneta que orbita una de las dos estrellas pequeñas en un sistema binario, según el portal Infobae.
Según explicaciones de los expertos en el área indicaron que el exoplaneta es ligeramente mayor en tamaño y masa que la Tierra y está ubicado a una distancia de su estrella donde su temperatura no sería ni demasiado caliente ni demasiado fría para que exista agua líquida en su superficie.
“Estoy extremadamente orgulloso de este descubrimiento porque muestra el alto calibre de nuestros investigadores e instrumentación”, sostuvo René Doyon, profesor de la Universidad de Montreal.
El telescopio espacial TESS de la NASA, fue el principal instrumento que examinó todo el cielo en busca de sistemas planetarios por lo cual dio pistas a los investigadores los cuales dieron con su descubrimiento.
“TOI-1452 b es uno de los mejores candidatos para un planeta oceánico que hemos encontrado hasta la fecha”, dijo Cadieux.
